On Monday, Dec. 4, girl’s soccer yielded to Sierra Vista HS with a score of 1-4.

The team started off strongly, scoring the first goal of the match. Unfortunately, after their opponent caught up, the girls’ momentum faltered and they struggled to catch up.

According to, co-captain Nadia Dorsey (12) believes that this experience provided insight on areas in need of improvement.

“Even though [Sierra Vista] is a good team, our team could have definitely done better. It showed us areas we need to work on, [especially] finishing plays,” Dorsey said.

Despite the loss, co-captain Stephanie Inzunza (12) remains optimistic for the upcoming season and strives to encourage the team along the way.

“[This loss] put us down, but it gave us motivation to try harder. After doing [so well] in preseason, I want the team to know that we have the potential to win no matter what the outcome is ” Inzuna said.

By setting personal goals for herself, midfielder Paloma Marquez (11) hopes to achieve a final victory with her team this season.

“Many things went wrong because of the lack of communication and, from this point forward, I plan to work as hard as I can to help the team win league,” Marquez said.

The next game will be away on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
