How does it feel to be a captain as a sophomore?

“It feels great to know my coaches and teammates trust me to be a leader and an example on the court.”

How long have you played basketball?

“I have played basketball since I was three years old and love the sport.”

Who has the biggest impact on your life?

“My parents have the biggest impact on my life, because [they] always support and encourage me to do my best.”

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“I would [choose] ice cream, because I never get sick of it.”

Who is your biggest inspiration?

“My biggest inspiration is Chris Paul, because his leadership and passion stands out on the court. He always gives [his] one hundred percent, and his handles are unstoppable.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned from being a captain last year?

“Comparing the past with the present will not get you anywhere, and confidence is key.”

What is your spirit animal?

“My spirit animal is a wolf, because I have the ability to trust my own instincts and create close bonds with my teammates.”

Disneyland or Knott’s Berry Farm?

“Definitely Disneyland, because it is the happiest place on Earth, and their churros and Dole Whips are bomb.”

What is the best memory you have with your team?

“My favorite memory with my team has to be our team bonding day at the beach, because it brought us closer [together], and we got to learn more about each other.”

Do you think you will have a successful season this year?

“I think we will have a successful season this year, because we know how to play well with each other and how to find the open shot during a game.”

How is being a captain different than being a general member?

“When the team lacks focus or energy, I am one of the first to change the atmosphere and get my team to focus on our [task at hand].”

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

“I would have to say Greece, because it looks beautiful. I want to go see the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes.”

When did you start wrestling?

“I started wrestling during my freshman year. My father always wanted to put me in wrestling, but I never wanted to join. [However], after some thought, I decided to try it out.”

What is the most important quality a captain should have?

“A captain [should be] dependable. If you are not dependable, then your team will not look up to you [during] times of need.”

What is something you are looking forward to this season?

“I am looking forward to CIF and the great memories [that follow].”

What is your go-to comfort food?

“Ice cubes on the day before a tournament.”

Why do you like wrestling?

“I like wrestling, because I can make many connections [with my] teammates and coaches.”

What is the best memory you have with your team?

“The best memory I have with my team is when we had our banquet, during which we had a blast [playing] indoor soccer.”

What would be the ultimate achievement for you as an individual?

“My ultimate achievement would be making Masters again and possibly state this year.”

What is one superpower you wish you had?

“If I could have any superpower, it would be teleportation, so I could get to places faster.”

What is your favorite part about being a captain?

“Being in charge is cool, and it makes me feel like a boss.”

How do you prepare for each tournament?

“I prepare by running, eating right and going hard at practice.”

What is your goal for this season?

“My goal for this season is placing in CIF.”

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

“I would give my mom and dad the money to pay off their bills and keep the rest [for] myself.”

How did you become interested in wrestling?

“Last year, my friends recommended me to join [wrestling], and I ended up liking it.

What is the most important lesson learned from wrestling?

“[Our] results reflect the amount of time and effort [we] put into practice.”

What is your ideal first date?

“Going out to eat at a small restaurant.”

How is being a captain different than being a general member?

“A captain must have more responsibilities, dedication to the team and set an example for the [members].”

What is your favorite part about being a captain?

“My favorite part about being a captain is getting to watch my team grow and work together towards a common goal.”

What are you looking forward to this season?

“I am looking forward to getting closer with the whole team and winning games.”

As captain, what is the strongest trait the team has?  

“The strongest trait our team has is the fact that we are all very good friends, so we are able to give each other constructive criticism without anyone getting offended.”

If you were stranded on a island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?

“I would bring a boat, so I can get off the island.”

“My favorite part about being a captain is that I am able to motivate my team and help them communicate with our coach and other team members.”

What are some responsibilities of being captain?

“Some responsibilities include keeping the team accountable, showing up to practice, running plays with them and making sure they are doing the best that they can do.”

What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

“I expect to win our league games, get to CIF and not lose the first round.”

What is your favorite fast food restaurant?

“My favorite fast food restaurant is In-N-Out, because those burgers…damn.”

What is your favorite part about being captain?

“Just being able to speak out, help our coaches, and share encouragements towards all the girls.”

What made you join soccer?

“I have played soccer for most of my life, and it is my favorite sport to watch and play. It is a lot of fun.”

Do you think you will have a successful season this year?

“I believe [we have] a great team, because there are a lot of positive energy and a hunger to do our best, so I feel like this season will be really great.”

What is your favorite type of food?

“My favorite type of food is pizza.”

“Some responsibilities of a captain are keeping my team’s attitude up and and being a role model for the girls on the team.”

As captain, what is the strongest trait the team has?

“A strength we have is our grit, because we are always so optimistic and thinking of better [ways] to improve  as a whole.”

What motivates you to keep improving?

“My team. I am always looking at what I can do as a person and as a player [in order] to improve my performance and  benefit the team as a whole.”

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“I would eat fettuccine alfredo for the rest of my life.”

How long have you been playing soccer?

“I started playing when I was four years old, because my mom’s side of the family plays soccer.”

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

“We hype ourselves for the game by listening to music as we warm-up and getting in a huddle before we step out on the field.”

What words of encouragement would you give to your team?

“To keep a positive attitude and energy throughout the game and to work hard for each other.”

Cereal before milk or milk before cereal?

“Cereal, then milk. If you put the milk in first, the milk would splash everywhere when you pour the cereal in, and the top half of the cereal would not touch the milk.”

Who is your biggest inspiration?

“My JV coach, Manny, because he is always there to support and motivate us no matter what.”

What words of encouragement would you give to your team?

“Through all the mistakes and losses, we have to keep fighting to make CIF.”

How do you improve yourself?

“I [learn] from my mistakes, [because] they [teach] me what not to do during a game.”

What do you see yourself doing in the future?

“I [definitely] want to go to a four-year university and maybe continue playing [soccer].”

How do you balance your sport with schoolwork and other activities?

“I focus [more of my attention] on schoolwork. Soccer is just a periodic thing.”

How do you prepare for games?

“Before games, the team warms up for at least an hour.”

What are you looking forward to this season?

“I am looking forward to winning [our] first league, and CIF as well.”

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“It is a hard choice, but I think In-N-Out is the best choice.”

What is your favorite part about being captain?

“I like having an important role in the team and making sure everything goes accordingly with what the coach

says.”

As captain, what is the strongest trait the team has?

“As captain, I think that the strongest trait the team has is that obedience. We follow through with what the team says and stick to the [instructions].”

How do you balance your sport with  schoolwork and other activities?

“I do homework with any downtime I have. That way, whenever I am at practice, I can be there one hundred percent, both  physically and mentally.”

What is your expectation for the upcoming season?

“I expect to be CIF Champions.”

What made you join soccer?

“I have been playing soccer for my whole life.  I joined the Wilson team to have a team with many of my friends. ”

What are some important aspects a player needs for soccer?

“A soccer player need to be able to have confidence and quick decision making.”

How do you prepare for games?

“We warm up for around an hour and mess around with each other to get loose for the game.”

What are you looking forward to this season?

“I am looking forward to getting into CIF.”

What is your favorite part about being a captain?

“A captain can lead the team. I like being there for the team, because they can come to me when they need help.”

How do you prepare for games?

“I like to listen to music, stretch down and goof around with everyone on the team.”

What motivates you to keep improving?

“Just wanting to win and to reach our goal for CIF.”

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“I would eat ramen for the rest of my life.”

“We need to make sure everyone is trying hard in practice and encourage all the players.”

“We have good chemistry [with each other], so we play well together.”

How do you balance basketball with schoolwork and other activities?

“Any time I am not doing any activities, I will work on my homework. [Since] we practice so much, I have [limited time] to do my homework.”

If you were stranded on a island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?

“I would bring my dog.”
