Introducing our Mr. Wilson candidates

Why did you decide to participate in Mr. Wilson?

“Throughout the years, I have enjoyed watching the show and have worked behind the scenes, so I [always have been looking] forward to participating in it myself.”

What does this organization mean to you?

“ASB to me means having leadership and discipline. Throughout the years, it taught me how to manage time wisely and [how to] have better leadership skills.”

If you could go back in time to your freshman year, what would you tell your younger self?

“I would tell myself to study harder in English and AP U.S. History [for my junior year].”

Solve the debate: Is water wet?

“Yes, because water is surrounded by other water, [therefore] it is wet.”

What do you consider to be your best feature?

“My curly hair, because I [do not] have to do anything to it in the morning.”

Besides yourself, who do you think deserves Mr. Wilson the most?

“Jason Chan, because he is very well-rounded and has good leadership [skills], which is a good representation of what Wilson students should be like.”

Who inspires you in life?

“My mother, because she came here as an immigrant with nothing, but she has given me every opportunity in life.”

What are you looking forward to the most in your last few months of high school?

“I am looking forward to making the most [out] of my remaining high school time by having a lot of fun and making memories.”

What is one thing you will miss and one thing you will not miss about high school?

“I will miss all the memories I have made with anyone I have come across. Each person has made an impact on my life, no matter how small it is. However, I definitely will not miss [dress code].”

Would you want to know the exact time and date of your death?

“Yes, because it would give me the opportunity to live my life to the fullest until that point.”

Why did you decide to participate in Mr. Wilson?

“At first, I was not going to do Mr. Wilson, but everyone in Drama encouraged me to do it.”

What part of Mr. Wilson are you looking forward to the most?

“The talent round, because it has been something I have been wanting to try. I will be singing sections of the musical, Book of Mormon.”

Who inspires you?

“Ms. Weaver, because she has always seen a lot of potential in me, leading me to really break out of my shell in high school.”

How is 2018 going for you so far?

“Good, especially with Drama contributing so much to my year. The Curious Savage and the One Acts performances provided me with such good experiences, allowing me to bond with so many new people.”

If you could start your life over from any point in your life, when would it be?

“Freshman year, because I was very shy and really cringe. I did not talk to anyone and was not open to try new things back then.”

What does this organization mean to you?

“Science Olympiad is the one organization I have been in the  longest. I have been a part of Science Olympiad since [the] fifth grade, so I have made the most memories through this program. I enjoy competing, learning more about science and meeting new people.”

Who inspires you in life?

“My parents, because they have always been helping and supporting me since the very beginning.”

What is one thing you will miss and one thing you will not miss about high school?

“I will miss friends that I have [at Wilson], but I [will not] miss the lack of sleep.”

If you could start your life over from any point in your life, when would it be?

“Elementary school, so I can do my educational career over to get better results.”

“Yes, because water is made up of water molecules, and they are surrounded by more water molecules, therefore it is wet.”

“I wanted to try something new.”

What part of Mr. Wilson are you looking forward to the most?

“Talent round, because it is the most exciting and fun part, as you get to see others showcase talents you have never seen from them [before].”

What are you looking forward to the most in your last few months of high school?

“I am happy that it is the end of high school and onto the future.”

What do you consider to be your best feature?

“I consider my confidence as my best feature.”

Would you want to know the exact time and date of your death?

“Yes, because I want to make sure to do everything I want to do before I die.”

“Joshua Tong, because of his amazing charisma and [attractiveness].”

If you could go back in time to your freshman year, what would you tell your younger self?

“Eat less and go hard; [do not] be scared to take the next step and challenge yourself.”

How is 2018 going for you so far?

“It could be better; although there were some complications in the beginning of the year, I am looking forward to what is to come this year.”

What is your Instagram username and how was it created?

“[It is] @spoodermahn; in seventh grade, I came across the Spoodermahn meme, and I thought it was funny, so I quoted it for two years, [and] it became a part of me.”

“Jason Chan, because he is a really nice guy who works hard.”

If you could go back in time to your freshman year, what would you tell your younger self?

“I would tell myself to try out for the dance team, because I [did not] know I could dance back then, and I was too afraid.”

What do you consider to be your best feature?

“Loyal to people that matter to me.”

“No, because I would rather live for the moment then anticipate what is coming.”

“[MIT Launch] is where I learned more about being an entrepreneur.”

“The lip syncing round, because I will release my inner rapper.”

“I am looking forward to spending time and making memories with my friends.”

“Country boy, I love you.”

“[It is] @chrisnotchis; I got tired of people [making typos on] my name as ‘Chis,’ so I put it in my username to let people know how to spell my name.”

What does this organization mean to you?

“Key Club is more than just community service; it is a club where we learn not only to love the community, but also to make friends.”

How is 2018 going for you so far?

“It is not as easy as people think; college acceptance time is a very stressful period, so to all the underclassmen, be prepared.”

If you could start your life over from any point in your life, when would it be?

“Eighth grade, because I felt old enough to do things that I [could not], and I lived too carelessly.”

What is your favorite Vine?

“It is Wednesday, my dudes!”

What do you consider to be your best feature?

“I have no shame.”

Besides yourself, who do you think deserves Mr. Wilson the most?

“I think that all of the Mr. Wilson candidates are equally deserving of the title, so it is hard to just pick one.”

If you could go back in time to your freshman year, what would you tell your younger self?

“I would tell myself to get involved in the school, so I could leave my (Paw) Prints on the school.”

What is one thing you will miss and one thing you will not miss about high school?

“I will not miss the school lunch, but I will definitely miss the friends I have here.”

Would you want to know the exact time and date of your death?

“No, because I want to live each day to the fullest without worrying about the end.”

Why did you decide to do Mr. Wilson?

“I decided to do it to carry on the torch of [past generations]. Also, it is [my last] opportunity to meme it up on the big stage as the finale to my epic Meme Bean career.”

Who inspires you?

“It would be Jonathan Heredia, [because] he was the guy who was there when I had questions or needed a helping hand. Throughout the years, he has been the greatest teacher, friend, brother and dad. Thank you, Jonathan, [for] I would not be the person I am today without you.”

You have one wish, what would you wish for?

“It would be to become the greatest water polo player to have ever had the honor of playing at Glen A. Wilson High School, inspiring a generation of youth with my great feats. [Then], I would become the greatest [water polo] coach from coast to coast, and one day, I will guide them to their first CIF title in over 30 years.”

Would you like to have another title than Mr. Water Polo?

“No, I would like to stay as Mr. Water Polo.”

How would you describe yourself?

“I am a jumping bean, because I am always bouncing around and being unexpected.”

“I would choose Zach, Kodi, Jason and Joshua.”

Does your avocation give you an advantage for the Mr. Wilson competition?

“My sport keeps me in [my] best shape and a positive mood, so that could give me an advantage.”

What is your favorite food?

“In-N-Out fries, [because] they are perfect.”

If you were on a boat, where would you sail to?

“I would sail to Europe, [because] I have always wanted to go there.”

How would you describe yourself?

“I would describe myself as a pretty smart and lively guy. I love being with friends and playing sports or video games.”

“My one wish would be for CODE to thrive for a long, long time.”

What makes you a potential Mr. Wilson?
“I do not know. My parents always said a person cannot judge himself or herself–only others can.”

If you were to choose, who would you choose for Mr. Wilson?
“I would choose Jason, because he is a trustworthy friend. Aside from this obviously biased reason, his charisma and confidence would earn him the title.”

Would you like to see a Ms. Wilson, and who do you think the winner would be?
“Yes, but I am not sure who the winner would be, because I know many young women who are all great representatives of Wilson.”

What exotic animal would you want?
Maybe a hedgehog, because it is cute.”

Does your avocation give you an advantage for the Mr. Wilson competition?

“[Being in theatre] gives me the advantage of having a great stage presence, and it definitely help me connect with the crowd.”

What is your favorite food?

“Sweet potato fries, because it has a distinct personality that regular fries do not have. Sweet potato fries would never leave me by myself.”

If you were on a boat, where would you sail to?

“I would sail to the Maldives. It is a beautiful tropical island, and I am kind of on a time-crunch since rising sea levels will submerge the island in 20-30 years.”

How would you describe yourself?

“I would describe myself as a person who is caring, honest to a fault, hilarious, understanding and a dash of petty.”

If you were to add one thing to the competition, what would it be?

“I would add the classic game of Rock—paper—scissors, because nothing makes a person more anxious than that game.”

“If I were to have another title than Mr. Red Cross, it would have to be Mr. Wilson.”

“Cereal first, then milk, because I am not a psychopath.”

What is your favorite part of the brownie would you eat: Corner, Middle, Side?

“The corner, because you get an even ration of crispy and soft sides.”

Why did you decide to do Mr. Wilson?

“I did [Mr. Wilson], because I wanted to represent my organization. Also, I thought it would be fun to do it with my friends and do all the rounds to see how far I could make it [into the competition].”

Who inspires you?

“There is not one specific person, because [there] are great people around me, but I would say my mom has impacted and inspired me more than others.”

“I would choose Joshua Tong, because that man has some seriously amazing vocals.”

Would you like to see a Ms. Wilson, and who do you think the winner would be?

“Of course I would, but I would not know, because there are always surprises.”

What exotic animal would you want?

“I would want a dolphin, because I seriously love dolphins.”

If you had to choose 4 candidates from Mr. Wilson to protect you, while the rest fight you, which 4 would you choose?

“Eric the wrestling beast, Benjamin the Taekwondo master, Kodi the taekwondo master #2 and Jason the Flash.”

Does your avocation give you an advantage for the Mr. Wilson competition?

“Yeah! I bet you no one else is able to [play the drums] like I do [except] maybe Cameron though.”

“My mentor [from church], because he is self-aware and in control of the things that he does.”

If you had one wish, what would you wish for?

“I would wish to live for an infinite amount of time to learn to play every instrument.”

What makes you a potential Mr. Wilson?

“Through my four years of leadership in band, I have grown a lot and I learned to love all the people that I am serving and a love to serve.”

If you were to choose, who would you choose for Mr. Wilson?”

“I would choose Kalvin Chang.”

Would you like to see a Ms. Wilson and who would it be?

“Yes, [while there would be no specific person], a good Ms. Wilson would be confident and has a love for the school.”

“I would not add anything, [but] maybe a quick mention of our accomplishments, just for bragging rights.”  

Would you like to have another title than Mr. Football?

“I was actually going for Mr. Wrestling, but someone else went for it, but I am fine with Mr. Football.”

“Cereal then milk! First of all, if there is no milk in the fridge, then why would you even bother eating cereal.”

What is your favorite part of the brownie would you eat: Corner, Middle, Side and why?

“I would say the side, because the side has the crust and it has the soft parts, [too], so the side is definitely the best.”

Why did you decide to do Mr. Wilson?

“I was actually talked into doing it. [At first], I did not really want to do it, but people convinced me, and now I am doing it for the fun.”

“No, I do not think being Mr. Avid will really help me, because I will win no matter what.”

“In-N-Out burgers, because they taste so delicious.”

If you were on a boat, where would you sail to?

“I would sail to the Bahamas, because I have never been there and it seems so beautiful.”

How would you describe yourself?

“I am a hard-working [and] sophisticated man.”
