Royal Wilson Marching Alliance (RWMA) performed at the Los Angeles (L.A.) County Fair on Sep. 11.

The performance included all members of band and colorguard to march in the L.A. County Fair Parade. The event gave band and colorguard members a different experience, as they received the opportunity to parade march. In addition, to help fundraise for RWMA, band members sold discounted L.A. County Fair tickets for $12 to people interested from Aug. 30 to Sep. 22.

According to band director Rich Torres, difficulties arose when preparing for the L.A. County Fair performance.

“Since we have not played the pieces [performed at the fair]  since the Fourth of July, reminding everyone [about particular details] in each piece was a challenge,” Torres said. “Plus, I have members that joined at the beginning of the school year, so they have to learn the music and how to march.”

In addition, band president senior Ava Zhu believes that the performance provides band members a great unique experience.

“The performance gave band [members] a bonding experience so, we can all get closer. We are not just performing, but also having a little bit of fun,” Zhu said.

Furthermore, band member freshman Emily Cardenas made new memories at the L.A. County Fair.

“My favorite part of performing was probably presenting in a different environment,” Cardenas said. “Mainly because I have never [performed at the L.A. County Fair before] and being able to see everyone enjoying our performance was [amazing].”

Band’s next performance is the football game against Covina at Wilson on Oct. 4.
